And some more.
This is a well preserved bus, but significantly also very much original. It’s very likely the seats have been reupholstered some time ago, but the other fittings are pretty much the same as the other Aussie examples in this thread.

The linoleum flooring in the olive green 1976 Kombi is exactly the same as what I had to remove from the late 1977 one, so definitively original from the time of conversion.

Pictures and videos of the original features of our 1976 Dormobile can be found in the first two pages of this thread:

Interesting Dormobile for sale in Canberra. 1976, twin carb, 2.0 litre apparently, but more likely a 1700.
Lots of interesting original features: cabinets, fridge, cooker, upholstery all look original. ‘Roo bars and redundant spare wheel carrier are age appropriate, as probably the tow ball and electrical connector. Not sure about the hubcaps.
Or the stripes on the side!
Mileage to be taken with a pinch of salt...

Neat that it has the tire cover still.

This from another thread, to show detail of the bunks and attachments...

I’m low key preparing the Kombi in case there is an opportunity to drive to Croatia again later in the summer. At the moment it’s not possible to travel from the UK to the Netherlands or Germany except for emergency reasons, but who knows what might happen?!
The Kombi has two small bunks up top. Too small for us, and we never use them. They protrude into the roof opening and I wondered if removing them might make a bit of living space. More importantly, they are quite heavy, and removing the dead weight (top heavy weight too!) would be good.
Each bunk is attached to the roof opening frame with two bolts at either end. One also had a rivet, which I drilled out. Pretty simple to remove. There is also a grey, heavyweight vinyl cover that wraps around. This is sandwiched under a trim strip which came off and got a clean!
You can see that without the left hand bunk, the roof canvas sags down into the cabin, so I reinstalled the grey cover and I will make that into a ‘hammock’ for the roof canvas.
It’s all easily reversible, so I’ll see how I feel about it after the summer, they can always go back in!

Some small detail from the sliding door panel refurb on our 1978. The plywood door panel is covered in material, with padding underneath. Under the padding was this writing, presumably from the Dormobile factory in Canberra.
I can’t make much sense of it. ‘Dormobile’ clearly, and some sizes and maybe the batch tone of the wood veneer? Maybe all the wood facings for a particular bus came from the same batch. Suggestions welcome!
