what amperage is the blown fuse? stock #8 fuse is 8A (white), usually when wired to the roof motor it was switched with a 16A (red) or even a 25A (blue).

I have an 8 Amp for fuse #8 (with the roof). It did blow once, about 6 years ago, no problems since.

After 9 years in use, I remplaced today the Engine Temperature Sender (G27) in head at cylinder #4. (113 906 161 Z), this time I will try the sender made by Hella.

Okay I have a couple issues and I'm scratching my head:

I have a stumble that seems to be related to throttle position and load, but is intermittent and only at lower RPM's. Vacuum signal to ECU??

it also takes two or three seconds after going wide open throttle to feel the power come in, almost like it throws the timing to it all at once.

I can't help but the think these are related. If anyone has had these issues any information would be fantastic as it's about to irritate me beyond explanation.

Check your charge voltage from your alternator. If the regulator is bad, the voltage will go too high and pop your bulbs.

it's a possibility for sure. have you checked the green line? it may have come loose inside the ECU box.
It may also be the manifold pressure sensor, since the oily vapor recovery goes into the airbox unfiltered sometimes they get contaminated from oil mist and go bad.

GArBa,

I looked at the vacuum line, and it's frayed between the intake manifold and the green line. I'll replace with a new one to see if that helps

I am grateful that my Mexi is working greatly and during the last escapade. This is what I went through Thanks VW Spotting

I PUT THE THINGAMABOB INSIDE THE WHATCHAMACALLIT TURNED THE DOOHICKEY AND THE WITEVERITIS STILL DOESN'T WORK
ANY IDEAS

Just remember even though you think you might not need it LEAVE IT ON THE CAR IF RUNNING because it might be there for a reason and if not if it falls off you did not need it ...

Big question.
If a car was running "fine" (normal idle, no fault codes), and after basic settings the idle goes into see saw (as in it doesn't hold a stable value). What happened or possibly happened? Anyone experienced such a thing?
What can I do to correct it?

no errors after basic settings? if the car was fine in the first place, why you did basic settings?

Well, it was 'fine', as in it worked when I got there. The problem is the wiring is not in good condition and lots of intermittent faults were present. The question is, now that I made that mistake, how can be fixed, or why did it happen? I'm still learning how it all works, and have been checking 1600I.de too.
Also, the throttle body has a modified screw for the tps, if that's anything suspicious.
Also, lesson learned. If it ain't broken don't fix it...

erase the fault codes, run the car for a while as it is and report the codes that show up. it may be as simple as a bad relay 30.

I did a little update on my car this evening. The side markers installed in the UK were cheap and the clear lens has been getting cloudy over the past couple of years.

It took some searching as I had no part numbers but I was able to find Hella replacements that are the same size. The Hella light assembly is different so I replaced the entire assembly including the provided wiring pigtail.

The existing wiring was poorly done, a taped connection for the wires on each side [where they tapped into each side's circuit] and a screw terminal as hidden behind the radio bracket (and covered in tape). I was able to use the pigtail that came with the new light assembly, and clean up the wiring with proper terminals and connectors.

Here is the old cloudy lens:

Nice new clear Hella lens:

The wires for the right side marker were about 3-6 inches too short so they added this terminal to extend the wires Rolling Eyes :

Wanted to share the two Mexi-beetles I saw at a car show a few weeks back:

2 Mexican beetles (1999 Mexico Taxi on left, 2003 on right) The Mexican taxi's interior had a very......well, 'unique' smell....that would make you feel realllly relaxed if you sat in it long enough Laughing
