Quick dumb question. I’m redoing all the seals on my windows after I just got done painting. Do I put the seal on the window and then the chrome trim or do I put the chrome trim on the rubber then fit to the window? Or does the the chrome trim go on after the window is installed? I searched but came up empty.
Oh, and really not looking forward to the front door scrapers. The threads I found make it sound daunting. Maybe I’ll just go windowless! |

Seal on window, trim in seal, seal + trim into hole. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

FWIW. A few more months ago my 1970 deluxe was in a front end fender bender. Part of the repair required the R&R of the front windshield. We tried to use the Wolfsburg West deluxe seal with the metal deluxe trim. We could not get s water tight seal and I opted to go with a cal look seal instead. This one is leak free. Discussing this with the installer, he pointed out that he always has a problem with the deluxe seals. The flanges on the deluxe seals are a bit narrower than the cal look ones. This results in a poor seal.

Yes, not looking forward to this but I did find a tool on busdepot website that says it’s for installing this trim. For $12 I figured why not try it.
Thanks y’all. I may have the windshield done professionally since it’s free (my insurance agent rocks!) |

Yes -- that tool is what you want to use to make the job easy. _________________ John

So the trim tool from busdepot is backordered 4-6 weeks. I need to have my windows in long before that. Anyone know of a generic tool for the trim? |

Found the tool. Will be here tomorrow.
However, I started cleaning up the window trim and realized it’s not in great shape. I want to get my windows in now. Can I add the trim later? I might buy repop trim but am unsure so I figure maybe I’ll put the windows in and decide later. Can the trim be added once the windows are installed?
Oh, and I did the passenger side scrapers and front door assembly. Easy peasy! |

Anyone? Was maybe going to install windows tonight. Can I add the chrome window trim with windows in? How much more difficult does it make the job?
Appreciate it! |

No, once the window/seal assembly is in the hole it's pinched shut tight, no person in their right mind would even attempt such a task, it'll drive you insane. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Haha. I guess I’ll have to use my just ok trim. I tried it without the tool yesterday. Very difficult. Honestly it’s probably part of why I was thinking of doing it later. But the tool came today so hopefully that makes it a little simpler. I thought I remembered seeing somewhere saying you could do the trim with the window in, thus my question. Appreciate the help. |
