You beat me to it. It is a "matching numbers" car but does not come with the original front beam, transmission or engine. It appears to be missing the VIN tag so how would one know that the body matches the pan? What the hell matches?
This seems fitting.

Same seller throwing around the NOS term pretty freely.

Either it’s NOS or it’s not. Maybe some rules should be suggested in classified? |

I’m sure seller know exactly what car it belongs to ... the blue spare tire gas tanks (7 and 8 liter volume) he mentioned in the ad are actually the ones who fit into 16”/15” spare tire |

Seen advertised yesterday as a engine lid handle for a split window Beetle, but if you look, there is an extended screw thread, which shows it is for a Goggomobile, and not a VW.

I don't feel that it's my business to start policing adverts, and to inform sellers about the rights & wrongs of their adverts, especially when they might be well aware of the facts anyway!
A friend was looking hard for a chromed, locking, engine lid handle for his split at Bad Camberg, and the couple he came across were 400 euros. I found an older Dutch guy sitting on the grass near the entrance selling parts, and he had what appeared to be just the item for 200 euros.
As I couldn't find the friend, and the seller was about to go home, I took the chance & bought it for him, and yes, it turned out to be a Goggomobil item we subsequently found out. That's how I know what the item for sale here actually is! |

It's up to you to trust me or not, I didn't know this should belong to a 181- in fact I was sure this is correct to early bugs.
So you mean the blue spare tanks are correct to ovals? It's sold for quite a while and there were several interested people and nobody mentioned this ad is placed in the wrong section. Please let me know next time! |

I'm conflicted with the description of this car.
Does "full nut and bolt restoration" mean the correct nuts and bolts and fenders and apron and taillight and seats and molding...
Or just whatever nuts and bolts and parts you happen to have to bolt on?
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2301201
At least the price isn't too crazy. |
