Posting some update photosof my 1967 vw woody wagon. I thought it was a 1968, but looking up chassis number vin and the engine vin, it is actually a 1967.
I will be taking it to Bonneville speed week august 10 or the month after for speed week racing finals.
Ill be travelling in it from peachland BC to west of salt lake city utah for its first official long trip.

The front end bodywork was LEAD welded on. I dont see any corrosion at all. Only reason the bondo is sanded down in spots is because i wanted to see what i was working with underneath. Nothing at all was wrong with the woody when i first purchased. Only the plywood panels needed replacing. The solid wood bits of the car were fine.
Also the hood is from a 1947 dodge 3/4 ton truck i found out. I managed to find the person who originally converted the beetle in early 1990s. So it lasted for almost 25 years in mint condition. Original body metal. Very limited rust. Only rust is the running board fastener panel strips.
If anyone is in okanagan lake area in BC canada, i could use a welder... |
