I talked to a few local dustless blasting companies about getting the body shell blasted inside and out. I was quoted $1500 and $2200. I'll be doing the body work the old fashioned way. _________________ 1987 Syncro Westfalia powered by Subaru

I'm slightly modifying my plan. After flipping the bus back upright I noticed surface rust starting to pop up on the side that was facing the ground so I'm going to sand the sucker down and shoot it with epoxy to prevent this.
layer by layer.
It goes sparkly blue->light blue primer, dark orange, light orange, beige primer, dark blue, light blue (original), grey primer, brown primer, metal.
here i'm getting down to the dark and light blue.

I like to post to and read through this thread to remind myself of how much time and work I've put into this project. Thus I'm going to post many pics of this sanding work as it's a major undertaking. Getting into all the nooks and crannies is time consuming.

after lots and lots of sanding i took a break to do some metal work today.
i added some "filler" plates under the rear window inner panel
I made and welded in the little panel bracket at the bottom of the B pillar:
and installed the last piece of headliner clip above the drivers side windshield:
I gotta weld in some nuts for the rear cargo door strap. the holes are there, just no threaded nuts behind them. The door has them though.... _________________ 1987 Syncro Westfalia powered by Subaru

Nice work; it's coming together! I need to weld in some of these brackets too. Thanks for the reminder 😃

Excellent!
Getting those layers of old paint out of the way will make the blasting go SO much faster!
Less chance of warp-age as well..

I had a quick hour to work on the bus and decided to start tackling the giant holes someone had drilled in of the spring plates.
At first I was going to try to add some filler material around the edges of the holes and open them up but in the end i decided to just fill them completely and redrill

Definitely 23. I wanted to get the body into epoxy to protect the work I've already done from rust. _________________ 1987 Syncro Westfalia powered by Subaru
