These look like a version of that.

I’d love to join one but it looks like the possible routes would go through some areas that I won't be able to go through. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Many drivers join their local leg of the route and join an evening or morning group for brew, breakfast, or just to ogle. |

This particular one is a rally that gives the participants routes at the beginning of each leg, I don't think it would be possible to meet up unless you were part of the event. And I'm not going anywhere near DC. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

They always spent the 3rd night on the road, in Crescent City. We have a show and swap meet and major barbecue at the Fairgrounds here, I would venture to say we had close to 200 air cooled VWs here, which, for our little town, is quite significant... _________________ 2003 Samba Chummie Winner- Best Story

I have a friend here in Boise who does the Treffen cruise every year- in full. He drives to Seattle and all the way to SD- then back to Boise. Last year he and his daughter took two buses (her bay and his SC). This year- they drove his '58 SC and his restored SO-42. They just shot through San Luis Obispo I believe. Very brave, very retired and just cool. I will do this one day.
I've driven a lot on the Oregon part of the 101 and there are plenty of passing ops- and the group pulls off regularly. _________________

Makes me glad I wasn't behind them (i.e. 100 air-cooled, under-powered vehicles on US 101. There isn't a passing lane within 60 miles that would be long enough to pass them all in one shot). |
That right there is the most juvenile, disrespectful reaction ever!
The proper response would be to pull over, get out and with hat in hand, hand over heart and head bowed, allow those lovely old Ladies of the Road to pass by with dignity! |

To be clear, that was his brother saying that.
The way it was quoted it could be read wrong.
I wouldn't want to be stuck behind them either.
If I was eating lunch on the coast or whatever and saw them all drive by, that would be cool to see. _________________ How to Post Photos

While they can be use for sport, which I occasionally do, I carry because I can legally & constitutionally do so. If the laws in DC or any state make it so that a simple shell casing can get me convicted of a crime, that would essentially revoke my right to carry, I'll just stay out of that place or any event that might go through there.
Besides, have you ever driven in DC? What a shithole. Traffic turns to shit as soon as you reach Fredericksburg, then it's 20-40mph all the way up (If you're lucky.) & most of the off-road trails I drive on are in better condition than the streets in DC. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Ironically, that's exactly what happened to my friend on the drive up. Seized engine in Concord, CA. I guess if you have to have this happen- being near Skinner's ain't so bad _________________

I think TDCTDI is just thinking of his fellow bretheren. After all, it is a good guy with a gun that stops all shooters. Unless, of course, you're saying he's not a good guy..... _________________ CH³NO²

Screw that, that whole sheepdog thing is BS. My family & my well-being is my concern, those that chose to not carry can fend for themselves or wait for the professionals to show up. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

*shrugs,
while i'm 100% on your rights issued by our constitution
paranoia is a personal burden to bear.
I wish you the best in your own state (of mind).
remember the Alamo Y'all.
and we really didn't care why you couldn't attend, but like Vegans, 2nd amendments (or are you a sovereign citizen too) like to let everyone else know.

Don't confuse being self prepared with paranoia.
There are plenty of people that wish they could have or wish that that did & lots of these high profile events might have been very different if someone did, all of those events ended when someone with a firearm showed up.
I originally stated that I would not be going due to the suggested courses & did not say why until someone asked.
Don't forget the rainbow banner waving minority that now has to be the main focus in EVERYTHING from movies, to TV shows, to commercials, to cartoons....
It seems that the those south of the border did remember the Alamo & they want it back. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.
