So my knock off 40idf carbs came in and compared to my weber 44 idfs there are some differences

In the yellow circled holes the weber 44idf has 2 brass cones on springs in them should they be in the 40 also ?

In the red circle there are ports in the 44's and the 40 do not have any holes in them. Is that correct ?

Thanks for the help

just for the record I did not find any brass or alum shavings anywhere in the carb. that pic is before I hit it with carbcleaner and compressed air.

But then again if those ports should be drilled Smile I guess that might be where some chips come from.

All the stuff you circled is part of the idle enrichment system. It’s generally not used so they don’t put it on some new carburetors.

That is part of the choke system for the IDF, they are cast plugged, so you don't have to worry about anything, good to run how they are.

Floats look to be right at 14.5 mm when held on the side.

Depends on age/generation of carb body, early ones were drilled. Some bodies maybe drilled and some maybe not depends on what generation whether true Weber or HPMX or other knockoff....

IF drilled you need to either have plungers and springs, or passages plugged (drilled/tapped/ plug)

Check to see if passages are drilled like lines in pic above...

IF passages are "open" either put in springs and plungers or plug as in pic below...
