Awesome trip, looks like we had very similar itineraries this summer, with our twins in tow as well. You're dedicated, I can never manage to put all those words and pictures down on digital paper. Thanks for the ride-along!

Next year will either be Colorado or back to Cali but going further south than before. We'll see!

Yep Alex the winds wear you down for sure!

It is a lot of work to take the pics, process, write the story, load the pics to samba (which is a lot by itself) and then pull it all together so it is readable. But I do this as much for myself as others. Gives me a story to go back are read and relive. I probably read my old road trip reports more than anyone just to have those feelings of traveling again. All well worth it

Ain't that the truth. Sure is fun looking back, even on the stuff that was "terrible" at the time. I wasn't sure I was cool with my wife blogging about our stuff when she started, but it sure is nice to have a sort of online scrapbook to go look at years later. Will be cool for your kids as well when they're older...

Really great to read your stories, Nate. I love your map, too - did you make that yourself?

Great trip report! I’ve done a very similar route and even camped in a couple of the same places. This year we are heading that way again and so it was great to read this now. Good times and with the family and I can relate to the kids getting older as mine are now 10 and 13 and this will be our 10th summer of family VW road trips. Very Happy

Yeah just used Google maps to give directions from your starting point to the first destination. Then use the + destination and add them as you go and drag to the route you want to take. Sometimes you need to force Google to take the side roads. I only use the map to show where we go not for navigating.

Great report! I know what you mean about the kids growing up. While it's inevitable that they'll want to do their own thing, I'm very grateful to have had my daughters experience the road with us. I totally agree on trip reports--they keep me motivated when I'm on a difficult project and/or bring me out of a funk when I'm pissed off at the world/job/etc...

The highway from Radium over to Canada 1 is spectacular. We also had to skip Lake Louise because of the crowds.

We have the GoogleMaps in Canada!!! Shocked I didn't mean that, I meant the North America outline map on the window that you're slowly filling in - that's pretty cool. Cool

Thanks Jake, it shouldn't but it does influence how we plan our trips. "Can we put another state/province on?" Hoping to get Colorado on their next summer.
