I just got one of these bus ladders from Trevor. I cannot rave loudly enough about the quality, fit and finish of the ladder I got.
He isn't making any more of them apparently so I suggest that if you're at all in the market for one of these type ladders, you get yours now.
Very fair price for what you get, and I'm not easily impressed.
I put this here instead of in the classifieds forum because I'm talking about one particular ad, and it is of interest only to split bus folks.

did you get the original or the westy style?
Also if you don't mind me asking how much weight have you put on it.
I am really looking for a folding slide in ladder like that the police buses used. But until the time when I can find one of those, one of Trevors might work.
Thanks in advance |

I bought one of Trevor's "gutter mount" ladders many years ago. Great quality for the price you pay....
Still works like the day it was new and can put my full 185 lbs on it when unloading the roof rack. No bent gutters at all......
As repro'd from original, it is the best looking I have seen. Folding in half really helps the storage space! |

Nice looking. _________________ Barndoor Mafia

I traded trevor for one about 10 years ago and I love the ladder. Very well made. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

I got the gutter mount "westy style". I have read in numerous places that westy racks with the "ladder bar" that you see from time to time are owner-modified to use the commercial style ladders which were available during that era.
No way I am going to drill through my OG ladder hoops to install a non-factory "ladder bar".
I haven't climbed on the ladder but it is obvious that it would support the weight of any normal sized person. If you're fond of Twinkies and bacon, you might want to rent a cherry picker or truck mounted crane to load your rack. |
