I’m seeking some input and advice.

Recently, I changed the oil on my ‘73 bus. To this point I had not been losing any oil. But after my recent oil change, I’m losing oil at the plug. I used the same crush washer and was very careful not to torque the plug past 9 ft. lbs.

Thinking it the leak was because of using the old crush washer, I installed a new copper washer. Again, I was careful to not torque past 9 ft.
lbs but am still losing oil at the plug. I have changed my oil many times and have never had this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

It's the strainer plate nut that's 9 lbs, the drain plug beside it in the case takes 16 ft lb.

Well - I wonder who that was - because I did two very short trips and I live in Penfield. Yes - please let me know the next time you’re in town. Send me a PM.
