I have a 68 long axle and I thought I got all the correct hardware drum wise. Its looking like I might have got hosed from the person I bought them from. Said it was 67 so I got the backing plates and drums. the fronts seem fine and installed new bearings and inner races. The back not so sure about. Its like it won't fit all the way on. What is going on and can anyone point me in the right direction?
I had bought spacers but It looking like its not going to fit anyway.
I did get them on but not going to be able to do the rear drums till I get this figured out. I also bought all 67 hardware and brakes. Thanks for any help really would like to get this drivable.

I have the spacers they are like 3/8 or something like that. They are suppose to go under the nut. but I can not even get the drum all the way down. I have not tighten them down and they feel like they will not go on anymore. I have not been able to find a thread on doing this conversion as of yet. _________________ 68 build that had been sitting for 18yr in a garage.

Type 3 brake shoes are a little wider than Type 1 brake shoes.
Maybe you have Type 3 brake shoes on there? _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Ditch the spacer and do it right. Run early type 3 rear brakes. _________________ Save a tree eat a beaver |
