|
|
Last weekend our van while in traffic the clutch hit the floor, and our van wasn't going anywhere. We ended up limping it home (only a few blocks) but noticed brake fluid pouring out the back end. When climbing under we noticed that the hydraulic line to the slave cylinder had blown a hole near where it attached to the slave. I've read through many forums on here and am still a bit stuck.
I've noticed that there a few different descriptions of what the line should be to the slave cylinder. Our Bentley shows two separate lines, one from the slave cylinder to a bracket on the transmission then another that runs from the bracket to the frame (usually composed of a steel line and a rubber line). We have one continuous line from the slave cylinder to the frame that is made of clear plastic. We are struggling to find the proper part online from any of the usual suppliers. We've looked at a few local places but aren't having any luck.
Does anyone out there have suggestions for us? |

Thanks for the quick reply! I see it is a BC distributor too! Quick question... The part you posted has a banjo fitting for the slave cylinder. Ours is a regular din flare ( Somone on here has called it a bubble flare ). Is there any way to use the banjo fitting on an older van?
I just got my van this spring and am learning lots as I work through things.
Thanks for any advice! |

The Banjo bolt will take the place of the bubble flare. _________________ 1991 Double door pop top conversion |

Awesome!! We looked a little closer and realized while trying to get the fitting to the slave to loosen (after a few days of penetrating oil) that part of the cast iron of the slave snapped off while working on it... aka we now need a new slave cylinder too. Hopefully, we can grab the parts locally now that we know a banjo bolt will work! If not we have a new place to look online thanks to you!
We will keep you updated. I hope to have it up and running after the weekend! |

in my case, the line from the master cylinder wouldn't unloosen at the junction to the plastic hose, twisted right off the corroded line. so i cut the line back to solid material, put a union in, and ran 1/4" NiCopp line right to the slave but putting a large, full circle of line shaped like a spring coil above the slave to act as a compliance loop to allow engine/trans movement instead of the plastic line. works very well. the flare fitting into the slave was an odd ball size as i recall, had to order it as FLAPS didn't carry it. _________________ -dan
