I wish I had done this way back when I was driving it daily but got lucky any time I left the lights on. Today I added a warning buzzer for headlights. I tapped into the tail lights for the positive supply at the fuse panel and the door switch for negative. you can see I could have tapped into the light for the speed o. Maybe in the future. I just stuck the buzzer on with some 3M tape. It kinda sounds like a smoke detector.

It is a cool trick, I'm sure there's a write up on here from years ago. I did this recently on the 4runner and has two buzzers. The wife killed the battery one day at work when we first got it. I started thinking the worst right off as to why it wouldn't start, lol. I figured out the lights were on real quickly and jump started it.
Man I wish I knew about the light warning buzzer way back in high school with my 82 Tercel, several times I got stranded with a dead battery.
hope all is well on your end also! _________________ Project 66 Daily Driver http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=538786&highlight=

Since I'm not going to any car shows or cruise nights right now I have been getting to some neglected maintenance. I got just a little too used to oil leaks lately that I was missing real actual leaks! The driver's side axle tube clamp was loose and the oil strainer gasket or oil strainer plate was leaking bad. I mean that's how we know oil is still in it it right? It's marking it's spot? Sweating power. Seriously though I replaced the oil strainer plate and gaskets. I found German made gaskets, I didn't even know they made em there anymore. Well looks like leaks are gone. That was how I figured out the axle boot was leaking. _________________ Project 66 Daily Driver http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=538786&highlight=

I finnely added that bumper.
And a couple shots of an impromptu Fathers day CVA cruise yesterday.
And sometime during the cruise the clutch cable started to let go. Got home no problem though.

52 cars! Is that a record for that event? Is the yellow '73 ('69 look) Beetle that was for sale at the CVA show last July now sold? I'm glad you had good weather for the event, though h-h-hot (low 90's?). |

Yep, 52 cars is a record. I doubt it will be beat next year since this was like the only thing around here VW show wise. I was looking at photos from last year and it looks like so much room between cars with 20 less! It was even hotter last year though. _________________ Project 66 Daily Driver http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=538786&highlight=

I finally got the Abominable snowmobeetle back on the road since the clutch cable turned into a bad Master cylinder then snapped bleeder screw on a rear wheel cylinder.
When replacing the cable I found the MC was leaking. It's been on the back burner for a while due to other projects. It has been since June 21 since last driving it. The MC was only eight years old and from the same place we got the one for Herbie and German. Herbie has one that's two years older and didn't mysteriously spring a leak when I replaced the clutch cable there.
I love that tourqe master tool!
Kinda reminds me of old times.
My theory is that MC had more usage since I drove it as a daily driver about six years ago and drove it to work any chance I could get during dry weather , even during winter months as long as no salted roads. _________________ Project 66 Daily Driver http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=538786&highlight=

Another relatively mild weekend here in New England. I just had to get out some more. Part of the reason was to start the process of teaching the next owner how to drive this car. (My son) My plan always was to turn it over to him one day.
This is when I realized the rear hubcap was missing. It fell off in the driveway, it seems I didn't completely install it. Being that I was not sure when it came off we retraced the route we took to and from the parking lot for driving instructions. I got lucky!
So anyhow before we took off in the morning I wanted to just recheck the brakes and bleed them one more time. Then I found that the right front wheel cylinder was stuck. This has already happened on the driver's side so since these are new German also I just rebuilt them. Seems the wheel bearing seal on the passenger side needs to be replaced, again also.
A fun photo from a screen shot.

Usually the CVA has one last Hurrah e ent at Westbrook Town beach this time of year. Well this year we got hit with a little bit of snow so I opted not to bring old A Bomb out with all the salt. We took the 4runner instead. Up side the wife came out too. I think there is plenty of heat especially
At highway speeds 😁 it seems the town beach was closed so we met just down the street at the Elks club.
