I know the functionality is there as a search option, but I don't know what to write as a statement when it comes to establishing an alert.

You selected a series of classifieds sections so you will get EVERYTHING in all of those sections.

The keywords and the sections do not work together - they are separate.

Entering a keyword of sotosotosociety will probably not ever match anything.

Try entering soto only and no sections.

Thanks, the program edited the search terms, I guess that why you must use commas.

Yes, if you enter multiple terms without commas, the terms get collapsed.

It's a simplistic system but can work well.

Everett, if i want to set an alert for 'passenger window frame' in the 49-67 bus forum, will the keyword be "passengerwindowframe"?
Is this correct?

No, you can only set up alerts for single words and not in a particular category.

So you can set up an alert for frame but you will get any ads with frame, in any category.

If you want something super specific like that, you should do a search and bookmark it in your browser
Then you can run the search whenever you want, every morning or whenever.

Passenger window frame search link in that section
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?...ton=Search

I don't know if I would use passenger though, just in case someone doesn't use that word.

Simpler search for window frame*:

Can I set up multiple alerts at the same time?

For example, I'm looking for a split bus middle seat but also a main bearing set for 36hp.

What would that search look like?

I tried this and got flooded with all sorts of irrelevant ads.

Middle, seat, main, bearing, 36hp

Yes but the words you set up are basically correct and you would probably get a ton of ads you don't want since you can't do complete phrases like "36hp bearings"

It might be best to run 2 classifieds searches and bookmark the results in your browser instead.
This way you can do the searches in specific sections only.

Example:
A middle seat search in the Split Bus Parts section only
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php...iddle+seat

You won't get emails but you can run them any time you want or make them your "start pages" in your browser so the searches open every time you open your browser.

I do this with some searches myself
I made a folder in my browser bookmarks of all the searches I like to run from time to time.
I right click on that folder and do "Open All" to run them all at once.
