Hi everyone, I'm trying to get this bus put back together (correctly!), and I just came across a missing part. A new bus friend showed me that the engine is missing a "flap" as shown in the picture.
Can anyone tell me what this is called and possibly any leads on where I can source a replacement?
Thanks!!!!

there is a cover and a flap on each side. keeps air from pushing back into the shroud when the defrost fan or aux heater if you have one are on.
You also need a pin for each flap. I made pins out of nails I cut off.
They look like this photo from RAtwell.com

There is a flap under that area that is not needed, what you need is the cover. I think they are available new at this point in time. Try CALLING Bus Depot and see if they have a box of them somewhere. The right and left covers are different in shape.
The cover has a gasket to help it seal, but I just use high temperature silicone. I put a bead on the cover, let is set for a half hour or so until it skims over well but has not fully set. I then install it carefully and tighten the screws down, this gives a nice tight custom fit even with somewhat mangled parts and pieces, it will be removable even if some of the silicone squished out of the joint. |
