Came up with the title at this year's RMW camp-out (of which more with pictures later), and as it got a few laughs, and since I haven't been doing much to earn my non-existent salary as Vanagon Poet Laureate... I perpetrate the following:
Round-Eyed Handsome Van
(With Apologies to Chuck Berry and Owners of 1986's and Later)
Sitting fifteen years in a back lot
Set for crushing like an old steel can,
Got bought by welder and machinist
Out to fix that fine old van,
Gonna rebuild and fix that round-eyed handsome van.
Looking through Google Maps one day,
Not far from where I began
On a sleepy street not so far away
Was parked a round-eyed handsome van--
It had the Hellas! Yes, a round-eyed handsome van!
Starting back in 1950,
When the Volkswagen Bus began,
The Type 2's, Bays and Splitties, each one
Was built a round-eyed handsome van,
Even the Samba was a round-eyed handsome van!
Craig's List seaching, out to find
A Volkswagen and an honest man,
Ended up quite far inclined
To buy a round-eyed handsome van,
It was a Westy! and a round-eyed handsome van!
In eighty-six they made a change,
Out to meet the current fashion's demand,
They had lots of good things but those square headlights
Didn't shine like a round-eyed handsome van,
Just trust me, Fellas, get a round-eyed handsome van!
Might be an old diesel
Air-cooled or a Doka (Oh, man!)
If it lights up the road with two big Z-beams
You got a round-eyed handsome van!
Use legal wattage in your round-eyed handsome van....

Hope Tanya Tucker showed up to sing it in our absence.
Nice job. _________________ 1984 Westy-Ferrari firing at 33% capacity

Number 1 with a bullet on the Vanagon Billboard Charts...
Of course, your great song is the only song on the Vanagon Billboard charts, so there’s that.... _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....

I like it (!) but please consider linking a bootleg video (if you're a REAL van man fan)...

I'm so happy and pleased that you all liked it. Thank you all, very much.
I'm sorry for any errors, I have always used 'handsome' for all Vanagon genders,
