My Dad purchased this Double Cab in 1972 - it was his first truck and his everyday driver until 1989 when he parked it. He and his wife sold organic produce out of the back of this truck for years. I didn't grow up with my Dad, but I have many memories of this truck when I visited him. I really wanted to save it and keep it in family, so I went and retrieved it this past month. It was located in Missouri - I live in Washington, so a very long road trip. My hope is to restore it back to original. It's a bit rusty along the lower 6-8 inches, but it's never been in an accident. The nose is solid and super straight as is the engine compartment. It will sit in my shop for a year or so, as I'm currently working on a different 1961 Double Cab. At least it's not rotting away outside any longer! Enjoy the pics.

As found - those are old solar panels on the bed.

Let the thread begin! Badass backstory and even better to read about another double cab moving one step closer to a new lease on life.

Did the Ford tow ok with that chain?

Laughing

Love it, nothing like a Family Split. That didn’t sound right.

With that story I wouldn't be able to save it from you. Hope you can keep the stickers on it.

Looks like it had a SW gas heater behind the front seat at one time.

It really doesn't look like it's in that bad of shape. I've seen way worse being restored here in California the last few years. Glad to see you got your pops truck and look forward to your progress.

It's really got to blow your message and that there both 3/4 ton trucks as well.

1964 type 2s were full one ton as a standard in N. America.

D-rick: My Dad lives in a small town called Ava - it's about 60 miles south of Springfield.

Here is the M-plate for the DC

I found one old pic of the truck in my albums - my Dad is rounding up others for me. This pic was probably 1986ish. The last tags on the truck were 1989.

It would be awesome to see you get these logos painted on the bus. That would be killer.
