...I did take a look at an essentially complete and original 1976 panel van from France, titled and running here in New Mexico. I would call this a survivor, although the paint has been messed with and some new panels installed inside.
But the rest is quite original, with a factory rebuilt 1600 engine. It has the speedo in km/h, the fixed front wing windows, and no dash VIN, all consistent with the original commercial panel van European spec. I would steal the engine for my 1975 single cab, except that it would be a shame to remove it from this vehicle.
The owner is interested in selling, but I do not need to buy another Type 2. If I were still in the game, however, I would snatch this up and refurbish it.
Anyone interested in a classic and original Type 2b panel van? _________________ John
