If anyone thinks that his shoplifting escapades were limited to just the two times it was recorded at this one store in Ohio you aren’t thinking clearly. Colin travels far and wide and it’s my guess that he had lots of experience swiping stuff from stores for many years. It might be informative to run his background check. There might be a good reason he’s been self employed for 17 years.

Very disappointing. To me this really sounds like Kleptomania:

There is a difference between ordinary theft and kleptomania: "ordinary theft (whether planned or impulsive) is deliberate and is motivated by the usefulness of the object or its monetary worth," whereas with kleptomania, there "is the recurrent failure to resist impulses to steal items even though the items are not needed for personal use or for their monetary value.

As others have said, sad to see.

Also, as others have said, it really could be a mental health issue.

I'm 3/5 of the way through my program to get my Master of Social Work and become a therapist. I interned in a program last year where one of the therapists got arrested after swiping a fountain drink. He was totally open and honest with me one day as he told me the details. Long story short, he was under a lot of stress in his personal life and just got to where he felt like he deserved it.

But he came clean, saw his own therapist, and worked through all the issues the right way.

All that to say, thieves do suck and maybe Colin is just a scumbag, but maybe (dare I say hopefully?) there is more to it and hopefully this incident will help motivate him to seek out whatever help he needs, too.

And while I will now have to get used to associating all the new avatars to names, those are pretty funny!

A few years ago we had a full bird Colonel Marine Corps Officer who was getting ready to take and lead a Marine Expeditionary Force out on deployment and he was caught shoplifing STP fuel treatment and printer ink from Walmart. He had the cash in his pocket too iirc. He was relieved of command.

Sickness or mental issue? I don't know but could be. I feel sorry for Colin and wish him the best - I really do. But will I ever have him at my house again? Nope.

My 3 yr old grandson just came running out with string cheese.

So I'm not sure how serious Shue's Marathon will be about pressing charges.
Aside from the video evidence (and who knows what they edited out):
-He was identified by name and "username" in the comments of the youtube video several times. And there seems to be a lot of internet chatter about the incident. (Has Colin's FB account been taken down?)
-Colin posts on his site that he passed right through that area on the day of the event, even stopping for a while to service the sliding door mechanism on his bus. He also posted where he was located at the time (Rochester NY). https://itinerant-air-cooled.com/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=13920 And after all that work, who wouldn't enjoy a couple nice, cool ice cream sandwiches?
-His itinerary is clearly posted on his website, as well as who he was (and is) going to be visiting.
-In about 5 minutes of looking through the IAC, I found a very clear picture of the bus and license plate of the person who Colin was going to be spending the day with (today, 9/21), so a location could have been easily pinpointed by people who can access that kind of info.

So theoretically, it would have been possible that he could have been visited by law enforcement today.
