Starting the restoration of my pre-a and I'm interested in some details on the heater pipework in the sills. I have all the other replacement metal for this area, but most people seem to sell flexi tube for the heaters, and I'd like to replace with metal pipe as original.

Does anyone have an exterior diameter and wall thickness for this pipe?

Also, what happens with it where it goes into the a-posts? Is it a seperate piece that comes down the post, or just a welded bend. It looks kind of odd in this photo, (photo pinched from a thread on here - thankyou!).

Thanks so much for any help anyone can offer in terms of details, routing, etc. All a bit new to me as a "bus guy" Confused

Hi Ben. I can't tell you the exact dimension, but I bought exhaust tubing from a local muffler shop which was close enough. I used a couple of reducers to match the existing elbows which run up to the valve under the hood. The tubing was just undersized from the 3 longitudinal supports with the holes in them.

This B should have the paper pipes which dampen noise from the engine, but it was converted to the earlier style with all metal tubing. There should be some pictures in my album that will help you out:
