I found that I could add little of value to the conversation. I know Ghiapet & it's owner. He's Good People.
Pisses off the purists that think a Ghia is in same value league as the Mona Lisa, or worth similar money to a cheap Chinese-made vase with the name of some Ming dude on the bottom...
The minute that a part is changed, the car is no longer 'original'. Build it. Drive it. Enjoy it.

I do not believe that qualifies as an "opinion". Now, if Bryan had said "Pie is better than cake"----that would be an opinion. Hope this helps. |

Hard for me to see if you are agreeing or disagreeing with my stance here. But I think I can construe it as encouragement and thank you for it! |

I'm in firm support of you sourcing a KG for your amusement/driving enjoyment. But, I'd keep the TTS as a daily...

Sound advice in a perfect world. Unfortunately, my world has monetary constraints that preclude it. That said, I think you might be surprised how little I need a daily. What prompted this whole affair was the realization that my TTS had become superfluous. I live in a Norman Rockwell town where I can walk to just about anything I need. Driving is for the most part just for pleasure, I am just making it more so. |

Nice. When does she arrive?
Interesting that there’s a cutout in the firewall tar board on lowlights. My 72 has that also, but it has a diagnosis port installed there. _________________ 1972 Karmann Ghia |

Put on the truck in Oakland CA today— originally was told that it could be here as early as 5 days but no official day yet.
Hard pressed to say that the cutout wasn’t introduced in the later repaint. Have you seen that cutout in other lowlights? Seems to make more sense on yours. |

Cool. Make sure to take plenty of pic.’s.
No idea on the cutout, I’m not familiar with lowlights, just thought it’d be cool if VW carried it thru all these years and then stuck something there in later years. _________________ 1972 Karmann Ghia |

As I said in the beginning of this thread, my only means of payback for all the advice and help would be entertainment value. There will be pics. |

Any word on delivery?
After waiting all summer for my car, it was even worse once it was on the truck.
Very long days and hard to keep my mind on work!
Is the truck able to deliver to your door? Large trucks are not allowed on our street. I had to meet the truck about half a mile from our house and drive it home.
Looking forward to hearing your good news.
Marc

Thanks for your well wishes, Marc!
Truck’s driving up to my door tomorrow at 9am! I am told it is dirty and gas less. Sounds like it needs a good home and a square meal. And so the odyssey begins— queue Thus Spake Zarathustra. |

Glad the trip is nearing the end. By the way, check the date code on your tires. Make sure they are safe. Don't forget the spare! And hopefully it holds air!!
Enjoy your first drive. Very exciting.

Will do!
Would you believe the first drive is going to have to be postponed as I have yet to receive a title/bill of sale? Tough to register a stolen car... |
