Will this be a plug n play solution for hooking up a electronic speedo in my bug with the stock speedo cable?

Nope. Your best bet is to buy a VDO electronic gauge along with the VDO Speed Sender. It’ll run ya $250-300 total I believe for the pair.

VDO 437 052 Speedometer Gauge https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CCDLG6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_NPzODbCG6SQSX

You do not mention what speedometer you have. As such there is insufficient information.

You could get a GPS speedo, although Id imagine you might have spotty reception just like my sattelite radio does. On Ebay there are some cheaper motorcycle electronic dash's that could work.
