Hello everyone.
I have a 71 super beetle. My turn signals have not been working since I got the car seven weeks ago. I have A new emergency flasher and it appears to be wired correctly according to what I have researched.
With the ignition key OFF I get nothing from the emergency flashers when I pull the knoB out.
With the ignition key ON and the emergency flasher knob pulled out only I get the indicator light on the dash. But as soon as I push the knob in it shorts the fuse.
Any ideas on why that would be?
I know that it’s shorting somewhere. But I would expect it to blow the fuse when I pull out on the switch knob rather than push in on the switch knob.
Thank you for any help! |

I had the same issues with a JBugs Hazard switch. Bought a used one made by VW. All good! _________________ Jimbo

The emergency flasher knob/shaft does have different lengths. I discovered that when my signals would not work. Had to source out the correct length for my 72 type 1. Found it at a swap meet. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.
Numbers Matching VW's are getting harder to find. Source out the most Stock vehicle and keep that way. You will be glad you did.

Give this thread a read. It talks about a problem with a new E-Flasher switch blowing fuses. Sounds like you have a similar problem. In the below case it was a design problem with the aftermarket switch.
