You always want to keep your rubber intact. That’s how accidents happen! _________________ 84 Westy

incorrect. my van will often get that hot, especially coming off the highway and into city traffic.
i don't really do oF, so you will need to convert, but my van will often go up to 105, 110, and even 120oC on a long slow climb in the mountains. i get nervous over 110, and i stop to admire the view at 120. of course; one reason for this could be severely rusted coolant pipes. i have been meaning to replace them with hose as well.
one other concern with hoses vs rigid pipes is rubbing from vibrations/etc, so make sure there are no pointy things that might rub a hole. i noticed one of my oil cooling hoses was getting a nice hole from the alternator screw - caught it before it was catastrophic but it could have been pretty nasty. _________________ 84 Vanagon Westy, 1.9L, California raised but defected to Canada. |
