The Spy on Netflix takes place in the early 60s a lot of bugs and busses.

Watched that last week. One of the buses in the first or second episode looked like a later model (mid-60's) for a '61ish scene. Still, I don't think many, if any, would really care or catch the nuances...pretty damn good show by the way.

Anyone know the significance of the Bus's in this weeks Silicon Valley? They have smoke coming out of them, and there are two, like a delivery service of some kind?

EDIT: Indeed it is a delivery service, of the herbal remedy variety, turns out:

I wonder where the Bus first acquired that association.

Best I can come up with, is this?

Do you have another example of when the world collectively accepted this stereotype?

But how a VW Bus became synonymous with pot, I fail to see the direct connection.

Here is a high school history book. Caption reads….. This young woman prepares to enter her elaborately decorated van in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco. Such vans were commonplace modes of transportation for members of the counterculture in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

1966, my friend Terry Wine purchased a 1958 VW panel I sited on Foothill blvd. That Easter week we loaded up surfboards, and headed to our local beaches to go on a 4 day surfing safari, Sleeping on side streets of Newport, Across from Dana Point in the infamous Richfield station, 3rd night San Clemente state park....No pic's due to the fact I think we sold the camera for food and gas.
