I saw that one on facebook a few days ago. I'd love to know why so many Buses were all together there. |
Stopping for some last minute groceries, booze and ice on the way to a 67' and earlier bus campout of course _________________ Brandon |

Not exactly a picture but back in 1965 my local dealer in San Bernardino, California was Van Wyk Volkswagen. I didn't realize that Jack had two locations in town at that time and that he was advertising 23 window buses when only 21 were available new.

Where did you find this newspaper clipping? This is really cool!
I only knew of the location on the corner of Baseline and Tippacone where U-Haul now occupies the location. |

Who owns THAT bus today?
Looks like they made a raised cabin floor to hide that slide-out platform that the holy roller is standing on, and that roof mounted overhead retracting canopy is daBomb! I wonder what other mods were done to that Bus in the name of the Lord?

I found the ad searching on the UC Riverside archive of the Sun Telegram newspaper that is available online. Here is the link: https://cdnc.ucr.edu/?a=cl&cl=CL1&sp=SBS&
I remember the Baseline/Tippecanoe location growing up in town in the 70s, but never the second location on 9th and D. Apparently the Baseline location was also the home of the Bering Monroe dealership that Jack Van Wyk bought out in 1961. Here are two ads from the Sun published on April 18th, 1959.

That is some really cool detective work searching the Sun Telegram.
I only found out about the Bering Monroe Dealership because someone showed me a Barndoor style (CA plate size from 1947-1955) license plate frame they had about 10 years ago. I wasn't aware it was at the same address.
Thank you again for posting this. |

Nice photos of a modern day Brazilian deluxe conversion. I like the logos and the theme. _________________ .
