Looking for feedback on what offset wheel I should go for on my stock height 70. I am planning on running 205/70r15 on all 4. Leaning towards 5 or 5.5” width preferably. Making a rally/dual sport style bug with off-road tires.
Thanks for your help! |

Your best bet is to stick with the stock rims. |

Wish I could but Les Schwab said they will not mount 205s on a stock vw rim. |

No bigger than 185 0n 4.5" wide wheels.
I'm running 185X60 & 205X70 on 5.5" wide 2.0 liter aluminum wheels on my lowered squareback. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

I was looking at those 914 rims they have a backspacing of 4.5 and offset of 35 would that work all the way around? I guess I’m just trying to figure out if I want more or less offset/backspacing? |

You should have clearance since you're at stock height w/914 wheels & 205's.
I have to run 185X60 on the front, but my beam is down 2 inner splines! _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Find a shadier tire shop. If some goofball can find a shop that will mount a 205/50 on a 10" wheel then you can find someone to put a 205/75 on a 4" or 4.5" wheel. Or just get tire levers. I have a pair of motion pro tire levers for changing dirt bike tires, changing car tires with them is stupid easy. 2 minutes a tire by hand with no other tools. Little longer if you run tubes _________________ 36hp '56 European DeLuxe oval, '70 bug 1835cc dual 36DRLA, and a '98 4x4 5spd single cab Tacoma |

There is no way I would run a 205 on a stock rim. For one it would look silly with the tire looking bulbous as hell, and another, I feel it would be pretty unsafe, especially off road. There is a reason that that tire shop won't mount it for you.
Get 5.5" wide rims if you want to run 205 tires. _________________ -74 Standard - "CaliBug" 2084T, MS3X w/FI and Crank Fire
