I just saw it in the background as the news guy was talking about the fire.

....Kid pictures or the van....tough call

And a Dodge truck of like vintage and possibly a Toyota FJ40 off to the left, now that's hitting pretty dang close to home (figuratively) for me, glad there wasn't a Bay and/or a VW Thing in that picture as well. |

Last year there was a similar post showing a different California fire with a burned Vanagon. I think potus was in the picture inspecting the carnage.
Edit: here's that post...

On the bright side, at least the Vanagons aren't being accused of starting those fires. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

We had a fire that burned within a couple of miles of our winter home a few years back, everything in the neighborhood that did get burned over was torched. While our neighborhood is kept fairly neat and clean and the fire department will require that people either keep their lots mowed or periodically doze them to bare dirt, the neighborhood that did burn was over grown with brush, with dozens if not hundred of junk cars and boats left rotting out in the weeds. Don't know if that fire burned any Vanagons, but it did burn a long abandoned and well stripped splitty.
I suspect the Vanagon which is the subject of this thread was sitting in an equally overgrown area and that it was inevitable that it would eventually burn.
