You've been excessively civil as of late.

I re-marry my wife every night.

In my job as a Samba Influencer, I've been told to lighten up and go easy on the tender youngsters who can't handle my brand of Cascadian Truthiness. I'm learning to subtly undermine everyone and everything.

If only there was a Glyptal that could encapsulate abrasive social media.

As it pertains to our little corner of the social media world I will say that at this moment in time I am thrilled with the civility and tolerance on our forum. It has not always been such. And although we stray the helpfulness is strong in our group. Proud to be a part of the Vanagon collective.

I donít think the sticker method will work Ďcuz its from the same boy who threw the rock.
It only works if other members jump in quickly and give better stickers.

I've learned that there are times to treat a wife differently than a sambanista, exp. in regards to stickers.

Skip the Glyptal goo.

It is was used on German cars in the past to seal the sand into cast iron blocks.

As noted it is unlikely a double weld will leak.

Just true the sealing surface and wash the pan out before you stick it on.

End of discussion.....

BTW You all have scared me, my cast pan has been on for years and I have not managed to hurt it......but you never know.

Now move along, there is nothing to see!

1 week with diesel in it.
Sitting on a white sheet of paper.
Not the slightest leak.

Yes r39o ---Mrshrimps hit was an unlucky turn of events.
Big rock in a standing rut in hardened clay at the bottom of a G-out.

My turn of events was lucky, that I had a TIG welder on hand and the desire to put a welded oilpan on the van. Not everyone will do that.
Well anyway knowledge is power, I bet Mrshrimp woulda gone in search of a welder in Boise if this was on the Samba previously.

Nice to see the pan is working out and you were able to weld it. This is valuable information that could have come in handy, especially of we could not source a new oilpan. But as we talked more about finding a welder it started to seem that the cost might not be feasible, assuming a welder would charge $60-80/hr. Now a home job from a samba member would have been something we maybe would have explored. Ill call you next time!

Actually want to point out that Sodo was generous to return a favor and basically allow me to order a skid plate from GW yesterday. It will need to be modified. That will be the continuation of this thread.
