While I was putting my front end back together again, I was curious if a front brake rotor for a 67-71 would fit on the 72-73 front spindle. Well it fits, as far as I can tell. I didn't mount the larger 72-73 caliper, assuming the rotor offset is the same.

I did a quick search in this forum to see what the differences are between the early and later front brake disk rotors. All I could find that the 72-73 was larger in diameter?

Also, the inner and outer bearings, with the inner seal for the later brake rotor, although different in part numbers seem to fit both rotors. I didn't actually install the bearings, but did some measurements and they seem identical. Maybe my measurement skills is not as good as I think they are? Smile

Any one have any thoughts on this that they are willing to share?

The later calipers have a different offset in their mounting holes.

I think the late rotors are thicker, which means your older style pads may have to be ground down to fit, reducing their life.

Yes, the later 72-73 rotors are thicker (require their own brake pads), but are also slightly larger in diameter (I want to say 4mm larger).
