"Mechanically intelligent folk"

I dunno about a #vanlifer, that kind of sounds like the phrase someone born before 1950 would use. I've got $5 on before 1950, anyone want to take the bet and then validate it? Rolling Eyes

My latest gripe. I thought I threw my Syncro fuel filler pipe out when cleaning up. I searched everywhere for it. I couldn't find it. Syncro project goes on hold while I can order another (aftermarket) from Germany for $200 or whatever crazy price it was for this stupid 2' long piece of pipe. Yesterday I raised the van on the lift to get under it, there was that stupid pipe sitting underneath the van. WTF! At least the new one is shiny.

not a whine, but a good deal for a spare or a core
though the whine is I don't know if the ad is for a Diesel or an Air cooled transaxle. since the bellhousing is off.
but it is an early 80-83 transmission.

$200 in Pittsburgh, PA area

I can tell from the few and shallow ribs on the case it is a diesel tranny, assuming it is from a USA/CA model.

$3000 for a "solid functioning Van".

These #vanlife people are causing the price increases. They overpay without a solid understanding of the condition or costs. Make a mess of things. Find out the project is too advanced for them. Sell at a premium trying to convince the next #vanlifer.

What a hunk of junk.

It is a rust bucket, and I do agree that the hipster #vanlife thing is raising the prices of westies (and sprinters for that matter). But I do think you could probably get 3k CAD in parts out of that, especially if it comes with the full interior still. The seats don't look to be in bad shape.

well you are a dick, but in the land of rust free vans what could ya do huh?

I cut the roof off this for swapping to a tin top syncro. I felt like a dick cutting up such a clean roller but couldn’t find a better swap.

No motor. No trans. No westfalia interior.

I should cut more clean metal off it for my swap, part out the rest of the “rare” diesel shifter parts and sell cuts from it but I need to clean up all my messes and don’t have the time to get it done.

Needs to be gone by Friday or it’s going to the recycler.

Clean title. Rust free. What’s left is super clean. You tow. Can take cash/PayPal/Venmo.

I can't decide if this is a good deal or not. The body is hellish, but the rest looks like a decent package.

drive it in the winter they said
get some snow tires and it'll be fine they said.

shame no one said anything about rustproofing and salt/brine on an antique vehicle.
it was once a nice Van,

this is listed in a local Craigslist.

I don't see it selling for $4k. that's for sure

It's a shame no one said anything about trying to not run into every possible object that would leave a dent. Very Happy
