|
|
Ive recently brought a new 6 volt battery (S3 060 Bosch Car Battery 6V 66Ah Type 421 S3060). i tested the battery on my starter and the starter engaged but didnt spin. So i then brought a referb started off a 365(They are the same). Although when i test the new starter i get exactly the same. Ive tested the starter on a 12v battery and it seems to spin and engage. Does this mean i have a faulty battery ? what is a 6 volt battery meant to read ? |

Are you testing the starters in the transmission? The shaft needs to be supported or it won't work as intended _________________ Aust. RHD 66 Type 1

As above. The bushing in the bell housing supports the shaft.
Is the battery fully charged? 6V batteries are in low demand, my Interstate battery guy keeps a couple in stock and has told me to call the day before so they can make sure it is in tip top shape before I come get it. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

Is the cable big enough to carry the cca amps and power for 6v? Small cable won’t work.
Earth lead connected properly will help.
More info would be helpful also _________________ shiny paint doesnt make it worth any more |

Cheers guys, I have a 4 Arm Engine Motor Stand Yoke with a fitting for the starter and have also tried to just bench test it in a vice. Both of these return the same result. Battery supplier are sending out a new battery tomorrow so ill try that. Is it vital to run these 6v in the bell house ? if that is the case then that may just be my issue. Sorry about the lack of info ill get some pictures of my setup tomorrow. |
