PostPosted: Tue Nov 18, 2014 7:40 pm    Post subject: Big Brake Kit fit inside 15" Ronal R9s? Reply with quote

Hey guys,
The only info I've found on specific diameter requirements on big brake kits is from SC, who claims to need 13" diameter inside the wheel to fit.
My question is, do the 15" Ronal R9s offer this much inside diameter to accomodate a big brake kit?
Does anyone with 15" R9s have a big brake kit? If so, from what vendor/manufacturer?

I'm considering purchasing a set, but I want to ensure that big brakes will fit within them!

Thanks for your help!

Read the Hold The Phone brake thread, just do a search, starting on page 5 is the answer gowesty big brakes which seems to be a definitive yes. another thread said small car fit those wheels, but not mefro steel. GW are said to fit even the mefros.

I'm looking because I need to decide on which big brakes to get. GW seems too be a good choice and they will probably be running a thanks giving sale.

By the way I'm dropping the price on those wheels to 500. Seems more fair.

Hi,

I have searched but couldn't find an answer on this, will the 15 inches Ronal R9 fit with Audi Girling 60 brakes?

Thanks

Mathieu

Hey Gang! Does anyone have some other resources for these? Ideally in the USA. I'm hoping to find a set that is usable. I'm totally good with ones that are cosmetically challenged. Are there any Merc yards or wheel restoration specialists in the USA that might have these?

There's a Samba member good guy that sells really nice replicas. Check out greggearhead.com and click on store, then wheels.

Looks like he has 16" Ronals listed, but I know in the past he can order custom sizes and offsets, so contact him for more info. He did some Fuchs replicas that fit a syncro with zero mods, so that's cool. Full disclosure, we're nieghbors and i have been known to drink beer with him.

I'd keep a close eye on Ebay; affordable sets appear from time to time. Search "Ronal Penta" "AMG Penta," and/or "Ronal R9." The best ones, IMO, are 15x7 ET23.

Here's a good start if you can talk them into shipping:

The ones on Greg's site are gorgeous but not an ideal offset for Vanagons, ET11. They'd stick out pretty far and require sliding door modifications.
