What's the difference in door size for 68-on (non1303) glove box lids: for those without padded dashes and those with padded dashes?

My understanding is that the non-padded dash glove box lid is a tad larger. I measured the vertical ht (right alongside the lock) to be 112mm (4 7/16") for what I believe is a padded dash glove box lid. Would like to know what the height of the other one is. Trying to source for one.

I'm looking to buy a used glove box door for a '69 padded dash beetle. In the classifieds, most gb doors are listed as fitting 1968 & up. If the '68 had a steel dash and the '69 had a padded dash, how can the gb doors be "1968 & up" ?
Shouldn't they be 1969 & up?
(Maybe this should be in the stupid question thread)... Embarassed
