Wow! Looking great! You've made a lot of progress on that SWR Panel! Looks like you bought/installed a Matt Miller upholstery kit, they are the best. Glad you filled those unique camper window holes too. Nice job on getting the SWR paint back to good condition too. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person someday, maybe you'll bring it over to the next BNNTA campout for us all to enjoy? We could park my '59 SWR DD Panel and yours together for a photoshoot and brotherly visit... yours is just a few months older than mine.

Anyone in this thread found a quality paint match in affordable paint? I don't think my paint is going to be glasurit level job so no sense in soending top shelf dollars. I do want a good color though. Not going to be a blend, complete respray most likely in single stage. _________________ 1967 Sunroof Beetle: tourist pass car

Hey thanks Bill,
The seat covers are from Blackdog so I think they are Matt's. Excellent quality for sure. Have some of Clara's panels to install too.
I've used your swr dd and dc for inspiration. We met up the first time at Neil's reveal and again at Midamerica Funfest the year we both were photographed by Dean Kirsten of your 58 dc and my 63 vert.
I'm looking forward to this summer with my 59 panel doing some swaps with my buddy Lou and his 59 panel. _________________ '63 Karmann Cabriolet L456 Rubin (Ruby Red)

I was under the impression it was sealing wax red based on the chassis #.
What red is it then?
Thanks |

I think yours being a very late production 62 (63 model year) it would be ruby? Your exterior pictures looked on the swr side to me, the code plate does look a bit darker though. You were looking at the samba paint codes which are for deluxe I think. The commercial colors show sept 61 starting the ruby red _________________ 1967 Sunroof Beetle: tourist pass car

you're looking at the microbus and deluxe colors available, not the colors available on commercial buses. Your bus being a 62, is ruby red like I just mentioned above.
the exterior paint looks like ruby red to me, if you were to buff it, you'd quickly see it is a much darker red than sealing-wax. _________________ drive your split. |

It's February 12th, 1962 but you are correct on everything else.
It's a '62 so Ruby Red like you and sled said.
It has 083, that is an unknown M-code
I will add your truck as a "Seen on" reference point in the M-code listing. _________________ How to Post Photos
