Did I just read that??? Did you write that?

Sure did. I have seen some deals sit on here for months only to be snatched up for much less then asking price. Things that two years ago people would have crazy over. I don't think there is a heavy hitter in the game that would deny there is a downward trend going on with bus prices these days. with the flood of Brazilian 15 windows and the new fake split bus bodies coming out I wouldn't be surprised to see more of a dip |
That's why I was taken aback, I think you're the first heavy hitter I've seen acknowledge the downward trend, from my nearest recollection. It would be nice to see the dredged-out trailer flips and purrrdy - but lopsided - lipstick pigs go away. |
We’ve got “heavy hitters” now on the bus whines thread. Lol |

I do believe it's a '66 based on that wiring attribute.
You can see the hacked/moved cross-piece in the engine compartment here too |
That looks like a slightly bodged hippy hole repair on the engine compartment ceiling.
Also, that wiring hole on the right side apron could be a replacement piece, as it also carries the VIN. Shenanigans? |
I noticed that too.
Obviously you would hack a massive rectangle out of the ceiling just to move that cross-piece backward.
Yes, the side piece could be replaced too.
I don't know, that seems less likely to me. _________________ How to Post Photos

Turds like these should make correctly done buses worth more once all the clueless buyers are gone through by the hack artists.
I wonder if the decrease in bus prices is mostly for turds like these and overpriced project buses or is it impacting well done buses as well? _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Yes, you are right tree is covered. But in the engine department on the right side, you see the holes to fix the 6V regulator only for 64. |

It is hard to tell without knowing what the buses actually trade hands for, not the Samba prices. Just looking at samba ads, it does seem there are some very nice looking window buses offered up for less than similar buses were a few years back. |

Check out BAT. They list all the sold prices. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Those side pieces get replaced when a bus had been hacked for a Corvair engine or something. Also, with the VIN on that piece, it is a good (bad?) way to VIN swap a bus. Not saying that is the case here, just that it has been done before. _________________ nothing |

I posted a request for photos on the BaT discussion. Something tells me this 66 bus is a 64 in 66 clothing. _________________ nothing |

I'm not sure what you mean by the 6v regulator only for 1964.
In this photo?
All 1500cc Buses have the regulator mounted on the right side, underneath the upright you see on the right side of the engine compartment. My '63 1500cc Bus is like that too. The screws on this Bus look strange to me though because there are 2 screws and one is on top of the other. They are normally side by side, not up and down.
Here's the normal 1500cc mounting on another '64 Bus:

I'm pretty sure this is a 1964 with hacked VIN plate.
Rear hatch, rear clip, rear apron, heater tree, bumpers, ecc are for 1964. |
I see the flip up/down control for the heat, so I think it does have the later heater tree. It has a pair of earlier kick panels without holes for the heat grills. 6/60-12/62 kick panels for early headlight buckets.
close up of later headlight bucket with earlier shape kick panel:
sigh.
Those kick panels. Those armrests. That bulkhead panel is 55-62 shape. Nice bulkhead panel top, does it even have the bulkhead center frame?
bid is at 28K , so for the price maybe okay?. |

It does have the 66-up dimmer switch and lack of pedal on the floor... That would be a little bit of a chore to change out just for the 66 funk.
Like 99% of the seat cover installs- the last step of sewing up the flap above the hinge of the seat back was not done. But what is all that gobbely goo of wires under the front seat? _________________

That bus is Brazilian. That steering wheel is anyway. Usually my first indicator. _________________ 53 Hatch Barndoor

I don't think that bus is Brazilian, it has low hinge cargo doors. My understanding is all split window buses made in Brazil came with high hinge cargo doors. _________________ September 1964 Standard Sunroof walk through SWR/BG original paint. |

My 66 kombi below; see where the wires come through at the right of the engine compartment.
I think the BAT bus is a 66, with wrong engine lid, wrong (fill in list if you are bored), missing grommet for wires.
