Well I got my car stripped down to metal and got it primered. The car was L335 Capri blue and was told that was the original color. Well I got my birth certificate today and come to find out, it was Glacier Blue L334. So i go to the paint shop to get some Dupont Chomabase, and he can't find it in the system.
How can I be sure to get the right color? Its hard to find this color online since it was a 1958 only color.. Any other color that it would match in todays paint books????

Thanks

If your not stuck on Dupont products you can order it online from the TCP Global Restoration Shop. I have only experienced excellent service from them. I used their 2 stage urethane on one car and have paint from them for my next project on the shelf

X2. TPC Global just mixed Atlas Blue for me, a 1958 convertible only color. My local jobber couldn't find the code.

By chance has anyone used this, and is it a VW color? Looks pretty close. Glacier Blue.

We sprayed my buddy's bus with TCP's Restoration shop and the paint quality was great but the color was much darker than it should have been.

TCP is great, they were the only ones who could get me Prairie Beige from PPG. Definitely call them they are very helpful.

Ok guys, I hit the jackpot on finding the color. After spending an hour up at the paint shop, and going thru cd's we found todays formula code for L334 glacier blue for Dupont. MM201 ... We found on a cd a picture of the original color book and besides it written was hand written MM201.. Mixed it up and looks to be a winner. Hope this helps others in the future!

That's my expected timeline too. I have a VW guy at the Napa auto paint supplier hand-matching the inside of my glove box lid and whatever other reference points he can find. I will post the results.

Just got the '58 Sedan back from paint - closest match available from Dupont was a Mercedes color. It's hard to tell from the photos, but it looks pretty
good ( I'm not a great judge- I have some color blindness)

My guy did a fantastic job - Very pleased with the results

I also have a 1958 Beetle in Glacier Blue (L-334). My struggle is to find proper paint codes for the wheels and inside the headlight buckets. Trying to keep it as original as possible as it’s still rolling on its original 36 hp engine and NOTHING has been cut or altered. Any luck with these details for you???
p.s. YOUR PAINT LOOKS AMAZING!!!
