I’m thinking of replacing my 145’s on 4.5 rims with 175/65r15’s on 5.5 rims for the front of my big. Lowered spindles and 3” narrowed beam. Not a popular cal look size. Anyone have a similar combo? Should clear, I’ve 185/60’s on 8 spokes with a standard width beam on another bug. Just thinking out loud.

I ran 175/65r15s on 4.5 in front on my ghia.
Stock size beam and drop spindles.
Had some rubbing issues but with a narrow beam it should be fine, not sure how 5.5s will work.
Its a good size tire, same dia as the 145r15 with a way better foot print.

I think I’ll be ordering some 175/65’s real soon. Amazon is my friend.

I have 4.5’s and 5.5’s. I was going for the wider rims this time around. Got me thinking, though.

Much more contact patch. 145s are worthless in panic braking.
