Can anyone tell me if case #w0014515 is from a Porsche? If it is, what size motor is it and what model/year Porsche would it have come from? Thanks. |

It could be from a 914 or a VW 411.
The VW 411 used the W case from the tail end of the Z series in 1969. It would have been a 1.7L engine.

Are these motors worth screwing with? I bought this case with rebuilt crank, rods, heads, etc... about 15 years ago. Also came with a set of Weber 44 IDFs. Plan was to build the motor and put it a VW, not a Porsche. Is it worth the time, money and effort? |

Probably should buy the factory 2.0 version with factory fuel injection Far superior. 44s are too much carb for these engines unless heavily modifed for racing

It doesn't have to stay a 1.7L. Big bore kits are readily available - easily upgraded to 96mm-104mm for larger capacity. Unbreakable bottom end on the T4 engines. _________________ CMC '57 Porsche Speedster Replica and Dolphin boat tailed full pan VW MOD-T Street Buggy |

The 1.7 case is a bit beefier and will need some clearancing to handle a 96mm jugs. and even more to handle a 71mm crank. But it will still be the preferred case to make a 2056cc or a 1911cc. _________________ My Toys: '75 Porsche 914, '92 Ski Nautique and now a 1972 VW Transporter Deluxe (punch list fixing) |
