I‘m looking for any tips and tricks to get the end cap in place. The bentley just say peen it into place. As the cap is at least 1 mm bigger than the hole, I got some issues. As I didn‘t find infos, it can‘t be that hard. My hammer method didn‘t work out...

Can you reused your originals?
If you want to use the aftermarket one you have you can probably center it over a ~1” hole and hit the center with a ~1/2” drift to balloon out the middle which will draw in the edges. 1mm isn’t a whole lot to take up. When you hammer it back into place it will flatten out. |

I tried it with the original first, but hammered one to death with the same issue. So I ordered new caps, because I thought they will be an easy fit - no luck .
I thought, maybe I need to drive it in from the other side (before putting in the bushing), but been worried that I scratch the surface when pressing it through. Will need to try out your idea campingbox, if I can make it deeper with a less diameter. _________________ Recent pics from my SO-42 rebuild: https://www.instagram.com/anni_vintage_bus/ |
