Thanks Guys!
Here's a couple more pics of the bus back from paint...
While the bus was away, I painted the dash parts. The steering wheel was recast and painted at Koch's, and their ivory looked good so I had my paint shop match it...
All the parts are sanded and buffed and I'm starting on the bus...

Really nice bus, all job done looks so perfect! Will the rear inside at the luggage tray going to be left in just primer or will it also be painted, or was it in just primer originally? _________________ Why have a good looking face? You can't even see your own face! |

Thanks! It was left in some kind of primer or sealer originally. I painted it with a flattened grey paint before the red/brown. It's sealed up well and will be left that way. _________________ David S |

Very very nice indeed. Were the Bakelite fuse covers originally painted? I don’t think that I have ever seen anything other than unpainted. Thanks for sharing pictures _________________ Jack Staggs

Thanks! Yes, the painted fuse block covers are correct. I guess it would be a barndoor deluxe only thing? For some time in '49/'50 the deluxe beetle pods were cast in white, but then they went to painting brown pods white. That would be the way the pods were done for this bus including the fuse covers.
I got another batch of hardware back from the plater. Some of this stuff is extra, doubles or stuff I missed the first time around. I believe most hardware on this bus should be black, with a few things being zinc. The problem with the black oxide is it will rust over time while the zinc won't. I have a blackening solution that works well over the zinc that I may use in some cases.

Thank you thank you for getting the fastener finishes correct. Far too many (especially Beetle restorations) replate all these fasteners at great expense but choose incorrect and too shiney finishes.
Good job! _________________ https://instagram.com/mr.ogpaint

The bus is all sanded and buffed. In case someone is wondering about the first nose pic, I use the Sharpie like a guide coat. Since I'm only sanding with 2000, it may not be enough to get the dust nibs out. So I mark and sand them out with 1500, then go back over it all with the 2000.
