I luckily now have all the parts to return my 52 to cable brakes, so thought I'd post some progress pics.

it does not show in there catalogue.
search cable brakes and they are there.
part# 111 605 701. to 65 standard beetle. FRONT
there calling them emergency brake cables.
on a cable brake car all 4 are emergency brakes!

If you're looking to have original cable brake shoes relined there are specialty shops. But the easiest place for many of us to source the service is at a Large (semi) truck specialist because it is still a common practice with large trucks. In the US there is a national chain called FLEETPRIDE. I went to the local FLEETPRIDE and sent out my shoes and had them relined/arched within 1 week. It was around $100.

I got brand new front cables from CIP1.com, I think they were $20 each and 2 days delivery. They are a BBT distributor, BBT carries/reproduces them.

I thought these bearing caps were too far gone having been chiselled off numerous times but a flap wheel and the zinc bath worked ok. They’re VW stamped so I want to keep them. As for the nuts, we’ll why not recycle?

One of the drums turned out to be warped so I had it skimmed.
