Update - Download link to this model here:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/1974_westfalia_paper_model.php
So, it been a long time coming for this rarity to surface again. Way back in February of 2014 I scored an unused dealer, kid past time official VW paper model from 1974. It must have been some promotional thing for dealers to give kids of prospective buyers. Id love to see some lit on that! Anyway, it caused a stink in that lots of you wanted a copy of it to build.
I made a promise back then that I would copy it, make one for myself first, then pass out PDF's for free. I'm sticking to that promise. I've waffled on passing it out as I am afraid someone will try to profit off it. I don't want that and would hope anyone knowing the true intent of this free information might call out and shame that person on the crucible of the internet. We will see. But that is not going to stop me from passing it out for others to enjoy, as it was meant to be.

So yall want rare?
How about this. A 1974 cardboard model originally sold at the dealer - unopened and or used? Comes with side tent since its a P27 and all
I've never seen one? Not an original VW one at least. Can any of you older farts wax nostalgic about this? I about fell over when I saw it. How cool is that?

So your wait is slowly coming to a close.... I'm getting closer yet. The copy I made myself is larger than the original. I had to print on poster paper then glue to poster board. I did that tonight and started to cut.
After I finish this, I'm looking into making the scans I have with more variations - different color bays and corresponding plaids. If that's a PITA then Ill just release it. More than likely I will send it to Everett to be put here on the Samba.
Now that the bus is cut, I need to glue the tent portion to some board and cut it out. After that all the slots for the tabs need to be opened, I need to anneal all fold lines, then make it and glue it!

Moving onto assembly -
Today when I got home I started in on cutting the tab slots, annealing all the foldable edges and assembling. I went in and out of cutting the windows out as well. I forgot to do that earlier. After putting the main body together and part of the interior I moved onto the second sheet which contains the massive VWoA Tent, the pOpToP canvas and the rest of the interior cabinets/seats. I'm going to need another poster board just for the tent.
I took the time to also show that I'm cutting out the pieces off of poster paper, gluing them to the poster board then cut out again before annealing and assembly. Good time to stop and wait for the glue to dry.

Press a line in the paper where the folds need to occur. _________________

Moving onto the second sheet. I installed the interior and put the floor in. Here you can see that I had to cut out the poster paper, then glue it to a poster board, then cut out the final piece.

Does anyone know if there were other paper models done at the same time for dealership promotions? It would be fun to have a whole fleet of 1974 year model vehicles. _________________ 1974 Riviera - Subaru EJ22

What makes this so ubique is the answer to your question. No. This is such an odd ball deal it would of gone unnoticed otherwise. Who knows? I would think they had more.

Well the bus is pretty much done. Not bad for a two day hack job essentially. I hope my craftsmanship inspires others to far surpass me with their own.
Im moving onto the tent next. After that, I should be releasing the pdf.

You really should get a repair piece for under the windshield.
Otherwise, nice ride. _________________ "It's not 'You are what you eat', it's 'You are what you don't SHIT". Wavy Gravy.

Yeah. I think that piece is NLA. Wonder if you could make your own and use it as a drink shelf when camping? _________________ My Bus Restoration Blog
