Ya with paint on all the colored wires, disguising them, and the age of the connections, It would be easier to run a fresh harness. I got a complete harness from JBugs for my 61 and it went right in, everything color coded correctly and proper lengths. |
yes thanks for input on wiring. im trying to decide about new harness or not ? I inspected main harness. its in goooood condition. but....that paint on wires I know.. thinking maybe goof off to get paint off ? and was wondering about the quality compared to stock harness. im not sure what t o do yet ? |

This really does look to be in very good condition. A nice dry bug. Wow I am jealous of the car stock you all have in the south. Again congratulations now that it's cleaned for a closer look.
Adjustable front beam in there. Are you going to drop it? My early bug is left tall but everyone around here in Ohio gets their bug low as a matter of course. |
ya gonna lower 1 notch in rear.... then lower front to match.. not slamming it ,but lowered. thanks again buggee |

its a canister you put on end of pressure washer . look up foam cannon on youtube. its actually laying on the ground in one of the pics . I sprayed with foam cannon , then pressure cleaned the chassis |

Looks pretty good.
Get after that bare metal with some Ospho (phosphoric acid) and convert that rust to iron oxide. Then prime and paint it when you have the rest of the chassis cleaned up.
Good Luck. _________________ I have learned over the years.

If the harness is in good condition and the paint can be removed then use it but going off the progress and your mechanical aptitude it may be more time efficient/cost effective to pull a new harness through _________________ Aust. RHD 66 Type 1
