Hi!
So i finally got around to continue, i started to remove the corner at driver side but i saw that it was in worse shape than expected so i'm letting this rest for now as the case needs to be removed from the chassis in order to get some room to solve this problem...
So now i'm repairing the A pillar piece, after that splitting it from the chassis to do some work where i couldn't get by earlier because of the chassis
Was also big misery to remove because of the previous owner just put on another piece of metal above the original

You just gotta love PO's and their repairs sometimes. Fixing their repair work sucks too. Keep after Andy, you're getting there. Every patch you add makes it that much more solid. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

That looks great. A nice clean piece that fixes the rust AND the PO's "repair" work all in one. You're gaining on it. It won't be long before the body will be off the pan. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Yup, I use my garage roof rafters, that I've added extra 2x6's to, to strengthen them (some are doubled up, and some are tripled up). But then I have a tendency to work by myself out in the garage. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Did some thit's and that's, getting closer to remove the cross and post fitting all panels
Add patches
Weld bottom rockers together
Fix front inner corner
Fix front outer corner
In the end this didn't work so went for the whole...
Stay safe. |

Man you're really going to town on the repairs. It's looking good and solid.
Building the cart really seems to have helped get things moving along too. Nice work. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Little update
Doing the last welding before the shell is completely done and ready to be epoxy primed!
Also today i gave in the rear fenders to be blasted, soon to be restored
Corner works
Put on the bumper bracket i restored from the scrap metal
Next i removed the support
And after that i restored and put in the backseat mounting points, and added the wheel housing things
I do not know how these are supposed to look like, so i'm trying to make something based on some pictures i found on TS

Looks good Andy. Keep in mind those wheel arches will get covered with insulation and carpet, so they don't have to be perfect. What you made up does look pretty close though, so it should be fine. Nice job of faking it. The car is really making great progress, and looks close being done with the metal fab side of things. Great job. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thx Bob!
Work in progress, doing the very last job now on the shell, restoring the side panels, i'm taking measurements from a NOS panel, what shitty metal to weld also
If anyone's interested, i'm selling the NOS panel but actually it's only good to take templates because it's very rusty

That looks good. Shame about the NOS piece being so rusty. I'm kind of surprised you didn't put some sort of rust preventative primer on the inside of that opening though. But then I'm so used to sealing bare metal with something to keep it from rusting, that it's a habit of mine to do that. Living in the "rust belt" kind of forces you to do that sort of thing. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Hi Bob, don't worry! I'm just retro fitting the side panels
Had a phone call with the painter today and he has a spot welder, so the plan is to paint the parts separate so every surface has been handled, and after that, let the painter spot weld the side panels in place
Later i still can spray some rust prevention into the air baffle
So here's the driver side end result for now
Also received my ATE dual brake reservoir i ordered, for converting single to dual brake circuit i think it's a very nice advantage that the mounting points are also in plastic, so no rust over there...
