Put this together. Will carry 4 wide skis (or more skinny skis)
No more climbing on ladders with ski boots to put them on the roof.
The next improvement would be to mount a ski bos on the side. A thin one would work well....gonna keep an eye out.

I love it. If I didnt have the gary lee rack I was going to do a hitch mount but this is pretty slick. Doesnt stick out that far either. |

Very interesting - is it screwed to the side of the van or just hanging from the rain gutters? Cannot truly determine it.
I just bought a Thule Tram Hitch ski rack (to use with my existing bike rack) and although it works very well, having the skis close to the side of the van is a very elegant solution. _________________ 87 Syncro Westy EJ25 ("Tardis")

^^^ I have similar questions for the OP...hard to see all your mount contact points.
My application will be for a pair of CCTM's (Cheap Chinese Traction Mats) hanging from the rain gutter.
(FWIW, I started a new topic about my own side mount project): https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9027366#9027366
TIA!

This thing looks great - can you post more pictures? Is it finished?
Does it hang off the gutter, or off the roof rack? Did you have to drill into the body?
I'd love a side mount ski-rack for 4 skis, without having to drill into the body.
thanks for any additional info or pictures...
oh yeah - when you wrote ski bos did you mean ski box? _________________ -Kevin
