I sold my panel to free up some space, and then promptly brought home this beast.

It's a 1957 Mercedes Unimog 411 "Froschauge" - aka "Frogeye" The cab is built by Westfalia.

4 cylinder diesel, 32hp

This poor truck has some questionable bodywork.

There is an tilt-bed option but this truck doesn't have it. This one originally had a snowplow mount for the front; I have the original mount but I'm not going to install it.

The Japanese mini trucks are very close to the same thing. We bought one, a 660 cc 46 hp 3 cylinder gas engine, 4X4 with front and rear diff locks and high/low range. Nearly unstoppable in mud and snow but practical? Not so much! Struggled to maintain 60 mph, only got 34 mpg, pounded out the valves from running excessive rpms on the road and parts were scarce as hen's teeth.

Only good for a yard chore truck (tilt box) or to trailer out to the bush for hunting.

The Japanese mini trucks are pretty cool, can come with 4x4, lockers, dump or tilt bed, but they are nothing like the classic beast of a old Unimog. Love the 411!
Neither the 'mog or Japanese truck would be anywhere practical in modern traffic.
