I am planning on installing the impact rubber bumper pads (and bumper end caps) that go in the center of the bumper. I have ordered and received the pads. What extra hardware, if any, will I need to install? Please send a link to a place where I can buy hardware if any is needed.

The main things I can think of are the tabs at the end of the rubber, and the oddball little sheet metal type screw in the middle. If you’re strip comes with them, you’re set. If not, I don’t think they are made individually any more. Here’s a title search of “impact strip” that has some threads on installation.

The ones that I bought (for sure) have the bendable tabs, but I have not cut them out of the plastic yet to see if there are any screws. Screws should be easier to find that the tabs, so I guess I am okay.

Here she is today! One more week![img]

If wrecking my bug means it ends up looking this good I might have to seriously consider it.

It looks like a brand new car sitting on the showroom floor.

They are now installed. The front was excellent condition originals that had been taken off another Beetle. They fit perfectly. The rear strip was a brand new strip and, while it is technically "on", it is not tight enough. Trying to figure out how to get it to stretch very tight across the bumper. There must be a trick to these.

Also, on the end caps...I would love a photo if anyone has one on what type of screws/nuts/bolts hold these things on. So far they are simply dry-fitted by sliding them over the end of the bumpers.

Thank you!

I have driven it, but it is back at the shop. When I took it in for work the engine started and ran great. Upon driving it home it would not hold idle and died on me at idle every time I slowed down to make a turn or stop at a stop sign. Something is off...I will report on what the issue ended up being.
