Yeah, but that crimper is definitely a specialty tool that I bet very few of us own an equivalent of- I know I don't. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. "Frankie" Totaled https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=764510&highlight=carnage

No special tool/crimper needed for these.
I have used the style that yours that needed a tool for it, a friend with a shop had the money and need for round crimped terminals to mimic or match OEM ones in tight spaces.
Anyway, I really like the MIL Spec ones, but I can see where the larger size might be an issue with a tight battery install space.

Having just bought a nice ratcheting crimper with a few different dies, that's cheaper than I expected. _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. "Frankie" Totaled https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=764510&highlight=carnage

At $40.00 you do have to think about the quality of it! _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Cheap Amazon tools are no better than HF. I have plenty of both for those single use. _________________ '87 Syncro

I found these in Europe, I even wanted to import them, issue is they need slight modification to be used with the US sold fuses. _________________ ABYC marine master technician , EX European auto technician, new business- EASTCOASTWEST , custom work on campers, only systems, no mechanical |

That's a nice clamp, but you still need a quality lug crimped on the cable.
Grote has lugs of various types too.....

I freely admit, not a big $$ tool. I anticipate a few dozen crimps for the tool not while I own it.
I'm not into production wire manufacture or repair.
I buy tool quality based upon anticipated use. This tool for me will be low use....thus, good enough! It works great so far.
It is head and shoulders better than a hammer and a punch!

I have a screw style crimper, won’t handle a battery terminal size crimp, but is fine for the cables going to the terminal I bought. _________________ '68 Westy- my first VW and vehicle/Bus- long gone.- sold it to a traveling Swiss couple....

My NAPA will make you up a custom cable for the cost of the next longest off the shelf one. Very good deal in my book. |
