For years, decades even, I’ve been dissatisfied with replacement battery cable terminals.
I’ve seen dozens of designs over the decades, some piss poor, some OK but nothing Great!!!

I despise replacement wire ends for the fail quickly and look like crap!

I was in NAPA the other day and noticed a display of GROTE terminals. High quality battery terminals as well as eyes.

https://www.grote.com/family/straight-barrel-clamp/?prodcat=battery-connectors

I purchased a selection to have and used one on an ExMark mower...... WOW!!

I like!

You do of course need a crimper tool or use the solder slugs they have, but I am over joyed with these!

Well, if I were posting about tools, I’d agree. My post is about being able to install a quality replacement battery terminal instead of the replacement crap available almost anywhere.
Granted, it isn’t OEM VW. But a very serviceable alternative.

There may very well be an existing cable end topic, but I didn’t see it.

Yeah, but that crimper is definitely a specialty tool that I bet very few of us own an equivalent of- I know I don't.

No special tool/crimper needed for these.
I have used the style that yours that needed a tool for it, a friend with a shop had the money and need for round crimped terminals to mimic or match OEM ones in tight spaces.
Anyway, I really like the MIL Spec ones, but I can see where the larger size might be an issue with a tight battery install space.

Having just bought a nice ratcheting crimper with a few different dies, that's cheaper than I expected.

At $40.00 you do have to think about the quality of it!

That's a nice clamp, but you still need a quality lug crimped on the cable.

Grote has lugs of various types too.....

https://www.grote.com/product-category/battery-connectors/

I freely admit, not a big $$ tool. I anticipate a few dozen crimps for the tool while I own it.
I'm not into production wire manufacture or repair.
I buy tool quality based upon anticipated use. This tool for me will be low use....thus, good enough! It works great so far.
It is head and shoulders better than a hammer and a punch!

Cheap Amazon tools are no better than HF. I have plenty of both for those single use.

I found these in Europe, I even wanted to import them, issue is they need slight modification to be used with the US sold fuses.

They make them with the solder too. Just heat the end and stick in the cable. Don't forget the power and ground lugs are different sizes too.

Puchfinnland,

This company?

https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/battery-terminal-cube-fuses-50-300a.html

Looks like the only company having the cube fuse in that particular orientation.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I have a screw style crimper, won’t handle a battery terminal size crimp, but is fine for the cables going to the terminal I bought.

My NAPA will make you up a custom cable for the cost of the next longest off the shelf one. Very good deal in my book.
